If I started talking to you about the MHL would you know what I was talking about? It’s not something I’ve heard before so when it was brought to my attention I gave a little side-eye before I researched more into what it actually was.
MHL stands for Mobile High Definition Link. MHL is an easy to use cable that lets you connect your smart phone or tablet directly to your HDTV. What’s great about this is, when you connect you’ll be able to access and interact with your apps, games, and other tablet/smart phone essentials on your TV which of course makes the screen bigger. What’s even better is that while you’ve got the phone/tablet connected to your HDTV you’ll notice it’s also charging your phone/tablet!
I have to say this is really neat. Ironically enough, Jeffery was just telling me how his screen is too small for him to play games such as Chess and Scramble with Friends. This would make it a lot easier for him. If you use your tablet/phone to take videos and such this would be such a neat way to share those or even photos without having to pass around your phone. I could see this being a neat interaction to say a baby shower that happens after the baby is born or even a graduation party maybe. Or in our case when my brother was home recently I could show him videos I took of Owen’s baseball home-runs from this past summer.
I’m sure by now you’re wondering what if your TV doesn’t have MHL enabled. Well if not don’t worry there is an adapter that you can use with an MHL enabled device. Also I found it interesting that by the end of 2012 MHL technology is expected to be in over 200 million devices and it’s already in many of the leading Android smart phones/tablets. There is also a steady stream of products being released as well!
When I heard about the MHL cord I also found out that there is a giveaway sponsored by MHL with the prize being a 55” Insignia TV and MHL kit! That’s a pretty sweet prize. This would make a great gift for someone!
Or even yourself!
