Personal Statement

I am a licensed clinical psychologist with expertise in evidence-based interventions for children, adolescents and adults with OCD, anxiety and other common co-occurring conditions (e.g., tics, trichotillomania, skin-picking). As a member of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Pediatric OCD, Anxiety and Tic Disorders (POCAT) Program, I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Cognitive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT), and parent-based treatments, including Parent Management Training (PMT) and Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE). Within my faculty practice, I offer a variety of clinical services including diagnostic assessments, therapy (including intensive treatment) and consultations. 

Biographical Info

Dr. Charlene Minaya completed her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Dartmouth College and earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Fordham University. In graduate school, she received extensive research and clinical training in assessment and evidence-based interventions for children, adolescents and adults. Dr. Minaya completed clinical externships at Marymount Manhattan College, the NYU Child Study Center and Columbia University Clinic for Anxiety and Related Disorders. She completed her clinical internship training at Westchester Jewish Community Services.

Following her internship training, she is spending two years as a postdoctoral fellow at Weill Cornell Medical College in the Pediatric OCD, Anxiety and Tic Disorders (POCAT) Program. Dr. Minaya has trained in multiple settings spanning partial hospitalization, intensive treatment models within outpatient clinics and traditional outpatient care.

Dr. Minaya has trained in a number of different treatment modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Cognitive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT), Parent Management Training (PMT) and Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE). Currently, Dr. Minaya is an Instructor of Psychology in Psychiatry at Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ and Psychologist at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. In addition to her clinical work, she produces research in the areas of OCD, anxiety and other internalizing disorders.
